National Copyright Administration of China and Three Other Authorities Launch SwordNet Campaign 2023
Recently, the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Ministry of Public Security of China, and the Cyberspace Administration of China launched the SwordNet Campaign 2023, China's nationwide consecutive efforts since 2005 to combat online copyright infringement and piracy.
This SwordNet Campaign will take place from August to November 2023 and target the following three areas: (i) copyright protection for sports events, in particular the unauthorised and illegal broadcasting of sports events, among others, the Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games, as well as that for on-demand cinemas, and cultural and creative products in museums, art galleries, libraries and other cultural institutions; (ii) copyright infringement of online videos, online news, and audiobooks on key video websites and apps as well as unauthorised reproduction and dissemination of news; and (iii) copyright supervision over website platforms, regulation of unauthorised dissemination of online literature and videos by browsers and search engines, and website platform operators' enhanced self-regulation in copyright issues.
