CPA Attorneys Take Part in ACPAA Training for Litigation Attorneys

On 19 November 2016, the second edition of 2016 All-China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA) training programme for litigation attorneys was held in Beijing. More than 30 of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA)'s litigation attorneys signed up for the programme.

This training programme focused on the themes of anti-monopoly regulation directed at abuse of intellectual property rights, as well as the technical investigation officers system and the Case Guidance Research Base (Beijing), both of which were establishment of recent years. In the morning session, Ms. Wu Dongmei, director of Division Two, Bureau of Price Supervision and Anti-Monopoly under National Development and Reform Commission of China, explained the basic concepts relating to monopoly involving IPR abuse, and briefed on current regulatory practice in that area by reference to some typical cases.

In the afternoon session, Ms. Li Qing, judge of Beijing Intellectual Property Court (BIPC), compared the technical investigation officers system with its counterparts in the US, Japan, and Europe, and provided suggestions as to how the institution could best serve legal proceedings. Subsequently, another BIPC judge Mr. Xu Bo gave an introduction to the Case Guidance Research Base (Beijing) in terms of its background, significance, and operation status.

The training programme aimed at enhancing professional proficiency of patent attorneys in handling litigation matters, and was attended by about 90 patent attorneys and litigators.
