CPA Attends AIPPI 2015 World Congress in Brazil

China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) recently attended the 2015 World Congress of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (generally known by its French acronym "AIPPI") held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event, running from 12th to 14th of October 2015, was attended by 1,500 plus industry practitioners from over 80 countries.

CPA's presence at the event was represented by our deputy general manager Mr. Wang Chongmin, Mechanics Department manager Mr. Cao Ruo, and Chemistry Department deputy manager Mr. Zhao Sulin. During the session, apart from attending the meetings and forums, they also met with industry peers from around the world and actively exchanged views with them on a wide range of IP-related topics of shared interest.

AIPPI is a Swiss-domiciled international organization dedicated to the improvement and development of IP protection. It has been operating by conducting studies and discussion of existing IP questions among its members worldwide to achieve harmonised resolutions on international basis. The questions discussed this year included: i) Inventorship of multinational inventions; ii) Taking unfair advantage of trademarks, parasitism and free riding; iii) Exceptions and limitations to copyright protection for libraries, archives and educational and research institutions; and iv) Trade secrets: overlap with restraint of trade, aspects of enforcement.
