CPA Senior Attorney Gives Lecture at Training Course of Beijing Patent Attorneys Association

China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) Beijing office's deputy director Mr. Wu Yuhe was recently invited to give a lecture at a practical skills training course for patent attorneys of the Beijing municipality. The course, held during 26-28 August 2015, was hosted by Beijing Patent Attorneys Association.
In the afternoon of 27 August, Mr. Wu delivered the lecture on analysis of patent litigation. He started with some typical cases he personally involved in, and went on to expound different types of patent litigation, including civil, administration, and criminal patent lawsuits, with the support of contents and cases cited from Patent Infringement and Litigation, a book co-authored by him and published by All-China Patent Attorneys Association as teaching materials for patent attorney training courses.
Mr. Wu then talked in detail about civil litigation that involves patent infringement, in particular the determination of the protection scope of patent rights and the establishment of falling within the scope of protection of a patent. This covered the establishment in practice of the claim body criterion, basic rules of interpretation, use of evidence, literal infringement, and equivalent infringement in patent claim construction. During the Q&A session, Mr. Wu helped clarify queries from the participants about difficult issues like the construction of mean-plus-function claims and the protection scope of closed claims.
By incorporating studies of cases and his own experience in practice into the illustration of legal concepts he was explaining, Mr. Wu's lecture proved to be interesting, effective, and very well-received by the participating attorneys.
