CPA Attends 2014 AIPPI Trilateral Meeting

On 14 June 2014, a delegation of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) led by general manager Mr. Zeng Xiangling attended the 2014 AIPPI Trilateral Meeting held in Seoul, Korea. The meeting is a yearly event hosted alternately by the China, Japan, and Korea national groups of the Zurich-based AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). This year's event, hosted by AIPPI Korea, gathered about 150 intellectual property practitioners from the three countries.

Mr. Laurent Thibon, deputy secretary general of AIPPI, flew to Seoul to attend the trilateral meeting and gave a keynote speech on recent development of patent law and practice in Europe. Patent attorneys from Korea, China, and Japan then presented on and discussed about issues related to IP law and practice in their respective countries, including examination of patent invalidation requests in Korea, patent protection in relation to second medical use, and treatment of IP license agreements during insolvency.

During the meeting, CPA delegates made extensive in-depth exchange of views with their counterparts, in particular those from Japan and Korea.
