CPA Participates in China Intellectual Property Symposium (Xi'an) 2013
On 16-18 June 2013, China Intellectual Property Symposium 2013, co-organised by All-China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA) and FICPI China, was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) is glad to have participated in the event with a 7-member delegation led by deputy general manager Mr. Zeng Xiangling and senior counsel Ms. Jenny Wang.
This year's symposium focused on two topics, one concerning utility model - its filing, reexamination, invalidation, and related patent litigation practice, and the other relating to judicial and administrative enforcement of patents. Among the speakers from various parts of the world who contributed their views and experience, Mr. He Hua, deputy commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), spoke on the evolvement, practice and influence of the utility model patent system in China, while Mr. Kong Xiangjun, president of the IP tribunal of Supreme People's Court of China (SPC), talked about the legislative direction, judicial interpretation and statutory policies of the Chinese courts with regard to patent litigation.
CPA also played a part in the discussion of the topics, with Mr. Wu Yuhe, its Beijing office deputy director, making a presentation about recent patent litigation cases in China. During his presentation Mr. Wu gave a brief analysis of the features and latest development of patent litigation in China on the basis of ten influential cases.
The symposium has attracted 270 participants, including patent attorneys, lawyers, as well as representatives of companies, courts, universities, and governments from Asia, Europe, America, and Australia. It proves to be a valuable platform for the industry participants to share experiences, exchange ideas, and enhance understanding of the issues of utility model and patent protection from the perspectives of respective jurisdictions.
