CPA’s Electronic Patent Filing Progresses Well Against SIPO’s 2012 Targets
China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) has been attaching much importance to the targets with respect to electronic filing of patent applications for year 2012 set by the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), in particular the two main tasks of: 1) e-filing of patent applications at patent agencies reaching 95%, and 2) turning paper filing to e-filing as soon as practicable.
To ensure implementation of the tasks, CPA has formulated plans and organised a series of training sessions for the departments concerned, addressing issues concerning e-filing in XML and in PDF, as well as details involved in switching paper applications to electronic ones. The firm is glad to report that with committed management leadership and close departmental collaboration, the above targets have been well-met.
On the one hand, e-filing of the firm’s patent applications reached 98% as of August, which is above the official aim. On the other hand, e-filing for about 20,000 paper patent applications has been completed, and a great majority of the firm's paper patent applications can be expected to turn paperless by the end of this year.
