CPA Patent Attorney Gets Award in ACPAA Research Paper Contest

China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) is glad to inform that a paper submitted by Mr. Mao Liqun, manager of its Japanese Affairs Department, was recognized as one of the best articles in a research paper contest organized by All-China Patent Agents Association (ACPAA).

The ACPAA research paper contest attracted a total of 106 submissions to write on the theme of "Theory and Practice Regarding Inventive Step under Article 22.3 of the Chinese Patent Law”. CPA also participated actively in the competition, and is happy to have its attorney Mr. Mao’s article titled "Application of "Common Technical Knowledge” & "A Finite Number of Experiments” for Determining Inventive Step” commended by the judging panel as one of the twelve best pieces.

Another two articles contributed by CPA attorneys were also highly regarded by the panel judges. One of them explores the topic of determining inventive step in utility model, while the other analyses the hindsight issue inherent in the establishment of technical problem when applying the 3-process approach for assessing inventive step. The three articles have been included in a recently published collection of writings selected from the submitted papers.

The award presentation ceremony was held in mid-November during an ACPAA symposium in which patent examiners and patent attorneys gathered to study in depth the same topic regarding Article 22.3 on the basis of the contributed writings.
