The 9th Business of Asia IP Forum Held in Hong Kong
The ninth edition of the Business of IP Asia Forum (BIP Asia Forum), organised by Hong Kong Government, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and Hong Kong Design Centre, was held in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 5-6 December 2019. The theme of this year's BIP Asia Forum was “IP: Building an Innovative and Inclusive Future for Business”.
As HKTDC executive director Ms. Margaret Fong said in her opening speech, "Hong Kong has been playing a vital role in supporting the incredible level of IP activity in mainland China and Asia as a whole, and the city will continue to be a focal point for the generation and trading of IP, including technology transfer, licensing, franchising, and copyright trading."
The forum brought together more than 70 international speakers, including professionals and business leaders from leading technology corporations such as Canon, Microsoft, Nvidia, Google and Impossible Foods, sharing their insights during the plenary session and breakout sessions on the topics of IP strategies for sustainable corporate growth, IP developments in Asia, IP ecosystem in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, application and protection of IP in sharing economy, co-branding and cross-licensing, unwelcome uses of well-known copyright works and trademarks, and legal policies in the era of artificial intelligence.
A concurrent event held during the forum was the BIP Asia exhibition, which gathered IP practitioners from different sectors and countries/regions to showcase their latest technologies, IP solutions and services, and provided consultation services and networking opportunities for forum participants.
