AIPPI Elects First Chinese President

At the World Congress of AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) convened in Milan, Italy on 20 September 2016, Mr. Ma Hao, who had served as vice president of AIPPI since 2014, was elected president of the association. Mr. Ma is the association's first Chinese president since its establishment more than a century ago in 1897.

In addition, the 2020 world congress of AIPPI has been scheduled to be held in Hangzhou, which will be the association's first world congress to take place in China since its establishment.

AIPPI, based in Switzerland, is a leading international organization dedicated to the development and improvement of the legal regime for IP protection. It has over 9,000 members representing 100-plus countries, and is organised into 65 national and 2 regional groups.
