China-Japan-Korea Intellectual Property Symposium held in Beijing
On 26 August 2016, the China-Japan-Korea International Symposium of Intellectual Property was held in Beijing, China. The event was co-hosted by China Intellectual Property Society (CIPS), Intellectual Property Association of Japan (IPAJ), and Korea Industrial Property Law Association (KIPLA).
Mr. Gan Shaoning, deputy commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), attended and addressed the symposium, reiterating the importance of cooperation at non-government level between the three major economies of East Asia with a view to deepening mutual understanding of relevant laws and learning from experience of each other in the area of IP protection.
At the symposium, industry experts and delegates from CIPS, IPAJ, and KIPLA shared and discussed issues related to legal system development, IP strategies, and IP practice in China, Japan, and Korea, as a means of exploring together effective solutions to IP-related challenges in their respective countries.
CIPS, IPAJ, and KIPLA have been in frequent exchanges of visits and convened regular academic meetings over recent years, especially since their entering into an agreement on academic exchanges and cooperation on IP matter in 2010.
