"IP Key" Seminars on Chinese Trademark System Held in Budapest, Prague & Warsaw

Recently, a series of seminars under the IP Key project were arranged to take place in three East European countries with a view to introducing the trademark protection system of China to companies and industry practitioners of the regions.

The first of these roving seminars has been held on 20th October 2015 in Budapest, and two more will be conducted in Prague and Warsaw on 23rd and 26th of October respectively. These seminars were designed to coincide with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of China (SAIC) vice minister Mr. Liu Junchen's official visit to Hungary, Czech Republic, and Poland. The seminars were delivered mainly by officials from the Chinese Trademark Office.

Apart from the basic characteristics of China's trademark system, in particular the legal framework and enforcement practice following the latest revision of the Chinese Trademark Law in May 2014, geographical signs (GI) protection in China was also a focus of the seminars.

"IP Key" ("Intellectual Property: A Key to Sustainable Competitiveness') is a European Commission-funded three-year project running until June 2016 under the framework of the New EU-China IP Cooperation. It is implemented by the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) with support from the European Patent Office (EPO).
