China's Industry Design Data Now Accessible via Designview Database
On 14 September 2015, the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) joined Designview, an online industry design search database created in 2012 by the Office for the Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trade Mark and Design) (OHIM), the agency which registers and manages trademarks and designs in the European Union. SIPO's accession means that industry design data of China have become available to IP professionals and the general public worldwide via Designview (https://www.tmdn.org/tmdsview-web/welcome).
On the same day, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) also make their industry design data available to the Designview.
With the addition of SIPO, CIPO, and USPTO, which bring about 3.3 million designs, 150,000 designs, and 725,000 designs respectively, Designview now has 35 participating offices and holds a total of 8.6 million plus industrial designs. Including the newly-added Chinese language, the online design database is currently available in 30 languages.
