Guangzhou to Launch IPR Mayor Awards
Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province and economic hub in the south of China, plans to introduce Mayor Awards dedicated to the protection of intellectual property rights, which is an initiative new to the country.
The Mayor Awards include Innovation Protection Award, IP Rights Protection Award, IP Enforcement Award, and Best Case for IPR Protection Award. According to plan, the award presentation ceremony will be held during the 14th Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology by the end of the year.
The city also created several patent awards last year to encourage innovation and creation, namely, Municipal Patent Gold Award (RMB 200,000 yuan), Municipal Patent Excellence Award (RMB 100,000 yuan), Municipal Patent Innovation Contribution Award (RMB 30,000 yuan) and Municipal Patent Exploitation Award (RMB 30,000 yuan).
