MIP Releases its Selection for Global Top 50 in IP 2011
 

Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) magazine recently released its sixth annual list of top 50 who are shaping the future of the global intellectual property sector. Seven Chinese made it into this year’s list, including among them Chinese Premier Mr. Wen Jiabao, and frequent members of the list, Mr. Tian Lipu and Mr. Jack Chang.
 
The seven Chinese among MIP's top 50 IP figures for year 2011 comprise:

Mr. Wen Jiabao, the Chinese Premier - announced and initiated the nationwide Campaign against IP Infringement and the Production and Sale of Counterfeit and Shoddy Goods, which was carried out in great force between October 2010 and June 2011.

Mr. Tian Lipu, Commissioner for State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) - an effective leader in steering the IP-related government organization on the track of continual progress over the years.

Mr. Kong Xiangjun, Chief Judge of Supreme People’s Court IP Tribunal – plays an instrumental role in the Chinese judicial system for IPR protection by fully leveraging the status and effecting the role of Supreme People’s Court in providing guidance for national court trial practice, and diligently explores ways to resolve difficult IP-related issues.

Mr. Wu Handong, President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law - an academic widely acclaimed as a very important contributor to fundamental and pioneer IP researches in contemporary China.

Mr. Wang Haibo, IPR Chief of ZTE Corporation - an outstanding in-house IP counsel with insight and experience in IP practice.

Mr. Jack Chang, Chairman of Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) - an active campaigner of the IP sector, under his leadership QBPC outperforms many domestic industry associations in its contribution to betterment of China’s IP law and practice.

Mr. Jonney Shih, President of ASUS Computer - the helmsman behind ASUS’s becoming the second largest iPad manufacturer in the world through innovation and tireless efforts.

According to MIP, there is no nomination or voting process involved in the selection. The list, spanning bloggers, artists, campaigners, academics, politicians, litigants around the world, is the choice of MIP staff in London, New York and Hong Kong based on recommendations and research.
