Third Revision to China’s Copyright Law Kicks off
On 13 July 2011, General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and National Copyright Administration (NCA) announced the kick-off of the third revision to the Copyright Law of China, and formally engaged the experts responsible for advices and suggestions on the revision work.
Steering committee of the revision project is chaired by Mr. Liu Binjie, Minister of GAPP and General Director of NCA, whereas members of the committee comprise representatives from legislative, judicial and administrative authorities, societies of authors, as well as education and scientific research institutes.
The expert committee comprises more than 20 experts and academicians with substantial clout in the copyright-related realms, including former NCA Deputy Director Mr. Shen Rengan, Director of Culture Office of Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee under National People’s Congress of the PRC Mr. Zhu Bing, Vice President of China Publishing Group Corporation Mr. Wang Tao, President of China Film Copyright Association Mr. Zhu Yongde, and Professor Liu Chuntian from Renmin University of China.
According to the work plan, NCA will solicit comments and suggestions from different sectors in the short term, and arrange for the third revision draft of the Copyright Law to be hammered out, ideally by the end of the year.
