Seventh Plenary Session of AIPPI China Held in Beijing
The Seventh Plenary Session of the Chinese Group of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI China) was held in Beijing on 4 May 2010. The meeting was chaired by Mr. LI Yong, General Manager of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), in the capacity of Vice President of AIPPI China. During the meeting the work report of the Sixth Council of AIPPI China was adopted and a Seventh Council of 49 members was elected. Mr. ZENG Xiangling, a Deputy General Manager of CPA, is also a member of the new council.
In the Meeting of the Council that follows, Mr. TIAN Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) was reelected as President of AIPPI China, whereas Vice Presidents of AIPPI China include Mr. YU Ping, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Mr. YAN Xiaohong, Vice Minister of National Copyright Administration, Mr. LI Yuguang, Vice Commissioner of SIPO, Mr. KONG Xiangjun, Chief Justice of the IPR Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court, Mr. LI Jianchang, Director General of Trademark Office, Mr. MA Hao, President of CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office, Mr. LI Yong, General Manager of CPA, and Mr. YANG Wu, General Managing Partner of Liu, Shen & Associates. Mr. LI Yi from CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office was reappointed AIPPI China’s Secretary General.
It was reported that during the past year AIPPI China has contributed a lot to the development of IP protection in China. It coordinated topical studies among its members, hosted international conferences, arranged overseas visits for its members, participated in AIPPI meetings, received guests from AIPPI and counterpart groups under AIPPI, and provided its members with counseling services.
“AIPPI” is the abbreviation for the French name of “International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property”, which was established in 1897. AIPPI now has over 8,000 members representing nearly 70 national and regional groups. It is dedicated to the development and improvement of intellectual property rights on international basis. AIPPI China was founded in 1982. It now has 336 individual and collective members, ranging from competent IP government departments, IP agencies, IPR research institutions, universities and enterprises.
