The 2010 China Trademark Annual Meeting, organized by China Trademark Association (CTA) in collaboration with Qinghai Administration for Industry and Commerce, was held from 31 August to 2 September in Xining, Qinghai Province. This year's meeting worked on a theme of  "Propelling the Implementation of Trademark Strategy and Promoting the Transformation of Economic Development Mode".

 

About 1,000 participants from different parts of the world attended this significant annual event of the trademark industry, comprising representatives from World Intellectual Property Organization and noted experts from other international IP organizations, officials from 18 countries/regions including the EU, Japan, Korea, the U.S., the Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Brazil, the HK SAR and Macau SAR, principal officers from Chinese state organs such as State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), Supreme People's Court (SPC), Legal Affairs Office of the State Council, Ministry of Commerce, National Copyright Administration and relevant local authorities, members of CTA, as well as senior executives of domestic and foreign major enterprises.

 

Mr. Luo Hong, deputy general manager of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd., hosted one of the forums, namely, "Forum on Analysis of Typical Trademark Cases" held during the 3-day meeting. Topics surrounding trademark criminal cases, review and adjudication of trademark cases, branding strategies of Japanese enterprises, and international trademark defence cases were presented by speakers from Ministry of Public Security of China, SPC, SAIC, Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA), and William Mitchell College of Law of the U.S.

 

Mr. Luo, in his capacity as CTA's vice president, also met representatives from JPAA to exchange views on subjects of common interest as well as to share experience and development plans.

 

The China Trademark Annual Meeting for year 2011 is scheduled for Chengdu of Sichuan province, China.
