CNIPA Releases China's IP Statistics for First Half of 2022

Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) released the IP statistics of China for the first six months of 2022, covering patent, trademark, geographical indication (GI), and layout design for integrated circuit (IC).

 

According to the statistics, during the first half of 2022, the CNIPA granted 392,795 invention patents, 1,473,290 utility model patents, and 382,894 design patents; in addition, 33,257 PCT international patent applications were received, and 353 international design applications filed by Chinese applicants via the Hague Agreement. During the period, about 31,000 patent reexamination cases and 5,000 invalidation cases were concluded.

 

Regarding trademark, during the period, 3,673,925 trademarks were registered and 2,699 Madrid international trademark registration applications filed by domestic applicants; moreover, 80,663 trademark opposition cases and 217,138 trademark review and adjudication cases were closed.

 

For GI, during the period, the CNIPA approved 3 GI products, 2,239 businesses for using special signs on GI products, and 365 GI trademarks for registration. As for IC layout design, 7,661 applications were filed and 5,233 certificates issued during the period.
