Four Chinese IP Protection Centres to Pilot on Diversified Handling of Patent Invalidation Cases
The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has recently assigned four IP protection centres to carry out a pilot project on diversifying the ways of handling patent invalidation cases, as the efforts to further strengthen the role of IP protection centres in providing speedy, whole-chain IP services encompassing the patent examination, validation, and rights protection processes.
The pilot project will be assumed by the IP protection centres of China (Beijing), China (Pudong), China (Nanking), and China (Zhejiang). During the one-year pilot period, the said protection centres will work toward the launch of prioritised channels for handling patent reexamination and invalidation cases, the remote video hearing of patent invalidation cases, and the furtherance of joint examination of patent validation cases and administration adjudication cases.
