USPTO Unveils IP Marketplace Platform "Patents 4 Partnerships "
On 4 May 2020, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) unveiled a new web-based intellectual property (IP) marketplace platform, Patents 4 Partnerships (https://developer.uspto.gov/ipmarketplace/), to provide the public with a centralised database of patents and published patent applications available for licensing.
The platform brings together those who have technologies and want to make them available for licensing and those who have an interest in and the ability to commercialise the technologies. The users may search the database using a variety of parameters such as key word, name of the inventor, the licensee, and the licensing date.
In view of the current public health situation, the initial focus of the platform is on listing technologies related to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19, including, for example, personal protective equipment, disinfectants, ventilators, testing equipment and components thereof. In the future, the platform may be expanded to include other technologies.
