International IP Business 2018 Forum Themes on IP Promoting Global Trade
On 18 September 2018, the International Intellectual Property Business 2018 Forum was held in Beijing. The forum was jointly hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and AIPPI (The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). The forum was participated by over 300 representatives from international organisations, diplomatic missions, as well as relevant government departments, enterprises, academic institutions, and IP agencies from home and abroad.
The guests delivering keynote speeches at the forum included Ms. Gao Yan, chairman of CCPIT and CCOIC; Mr. Ma Hao, president of AIPPI; Ms. Ingrid Baele, chair of ICC Commission on Intellectual Property; and Mr. Chen Hongbing, director of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China.
The forum aims at facilitating international cooperation on IP, in particular encouraging the involvement of the commercial and industrial sectors in the development of global IP governance systems. This year's forum carried a theme of “IP promoting global trade”, during which frontier, hot issues in the international IP field including standard-essential patents (SEPs), trade secret protection, and how artificial intelligence (AI) affects graphic user interface (GUI) were discussed.
