Beijing IP Court Reports Case Acceptance & Conclusion Status in Four Years since Inception
Beijing Intellectual Property Court (BIPC) as the first IP court of China began accepting cases on 6 November 2014. The court recently reported its case acceptance and conclusion status over the past four years from its inception until the end of October 2018.
According to the report, BIPC has accepted 50,739 IP cases and concluded 37,999 IP cases during the period. Of the cases accepted, 7,078 were patent cases, with about 30% of them being civil patent cases and 70% administrative patent cases; for the cases concluded, 3,939 were patent cases, of which about 40% are civil patent cases and 60% administrative patent cases.
As reported, the cases handled by the court are characterised by a high proportion of first-instance cases, cases involving complex, technological issues, and cases in which the parties come from Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan.
