China's Copyright Registrations in 2017 Grow 36.86% to 2.7 Million
According to the statistics from National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) for year 2017, copyright registrations in China continued to grow during the year, up 36.86% year-on-year, to a total of 2,747,652, which comprised 745,387 (up 82.79%) software registrations and 2,001,966 (up 25.15%) registrations for works other than software.
For software registrations in China during the year, Guangdong province, Beijing, and Shanghai were the top three regions by number of registrations. And in terms of types of registrations, APP was the most popular category with 154,977 registrations, representing 20.79% of the software registrations nationwide, while financial software, soaring 133.95% year-on-year to 38248 registrations, was one of the fastest growing categories, and geographic information system (GIS) software, up 75.7% year-on-year to 17,780 registrations, also exhibited strong growth momentum during the year.
As for registrations of works other than software, Beijing, Jiangsu province, and Shanghai were the top three regions by rate of growth. In terms of types of registration, photographical works occupied the top place with 734,998 registrations, which was followed by visual art works (653,820 registrations), literary works (480,640 registrations), and audio-visual works (45,171 registrations).
