The 19th Ceremony for WIPO-SIPO Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design Held in Beijing
On 13 December 2017, the Ceremony for the WIPO-SIPO Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design hosted by the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was held in Beijing.
SIPO commissioner Mr. Shen Changyu and WIPO deputy director general Ms. Wang Binying delivered speeches during the ceremony respectively. And they, together with SIPO deputy commissioners Mr. He Hua and Mr. He Zhimin, and Patent Protection Association of China (PPAC) chairman Mr. Meng Fengchao, presented the awards to the awardees. The Award this year identified 20 patent gold awards and 802 patent awards of excellence as well as 5 design gold awards and 68 design awards of excellence, chosen from 1,554 entries nominated by WIPO and relevant Chinese authorities and industry associations. Apart from presentation of the awards, speeches were also given by representatives of the awardees, namely, Mr. Wang Jun, vice president of CRRC Corporation Limited; Mr. Yao Min, deputy general manager of Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Wang Yecai, senior vice president of Haier Appliance Industry Group.
This year marked the 19th edition of the Award, which has, as of this year, recognised about 5,000 patented inventions and designs for their innovative quality, utilisation effectiveness, protection capacity, or administration standard. Alongside the award presentation ceremony, some of the outstanding patents awarded over recent years were exhibited at the venue.
