China Patent Annual Conference 2017 Focuses on the Theme of Patent as Driver of Real Economy Development

On 5 September 2017, the 8th China Patent Annual Conference (formerly "China Patent Information Annual Conference") hosted by Intellectual Property Publishing House was held in Beijing.

 

The theme of this year's conference was "Patent Driving Development of Real Economy”. After the opening remarks by Mr. Shen Changyu, commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), keynote speeches were delivered by speakers including Ministry of Industry and Information vice minister Mr. Luo Wen, SIPO deputy commissioner Mr. He Hua, and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) assistant director general Mr. Yoshiyuki Takagi.

 

The conference also featured seven breakout sessions, which discussed respectively the topics of patent facilitating transformation and upgrading of real economy; evolving global patent monetization market; intellectual property protection in China; utilisation of patent information in context of AI; intellectual property co-operation among belt and road countries; search strategies and latest developments in searching, analysing, organising and understanding patent information; and improvement in patent value. In addition there were a number of exhibitor workshops as well as several launch conferences including those for New China Intellectual Property Right Net (CNIPR) and iThink Tank College.

 

The conference attracted about 8,000 participants and 80-plus exhibitors from home and abroad. And more than a hundred speakers representing enterprises, international organisations, the courts, government authorities, IP agencies, and research institutes from across the globe shared their views on heated issues surrounding the theme of strengthening real economy with innovation.
