International Trademark Applications from China Up 140% in 1st Half of 2016
According to statistics from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), filings of international trademark applications from China via WIPO's Madrid system during the first half of 2016 reached 1,827, representing an increase of 140% over the first half of 2015. China ranked seventh by number of international trademark applications (2,401) filed via the Madrid system in 2015.
During the first half of 2016, China Trademark Office received 1.74 million trademark applications, up 32.3% year-on-year. As of the end of June 2016, about 11.22 million valid trademarks have been registered in China, accounting for about one third of the world's valid registered trademarks.
