EU Chamber Recognises IP Friendly Regions in China
Recently, the European Union Chamber Of Commerce in China (EUCCC) launched the IP Friendly Awards to honour China's most IP-friendly regions. As noted by an official from EUCCC, the awards were intended to recognise the efforts of Chinese local governments in IP protection, amidst the country's continuous improvement in legal environment and IP enforcement over recent years.
The awards ceremony was held on 30 March 2016, during which government officials representing the six winning provinces and municipalities, namely, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Tianjin, Shandong, and Zhejiang, were present to receive the awards. On the same occasion, a conference was conducted to delve into the theme of IP as a boost to innovation in China, fostering discussion and exchanges on issues including new dynamics in IP, challenges and opportunities in Internet context, as well as IP and anti-monopoly among representatives from Chinese government departments, foreign embassies in China, enterprises, and law firms.
The EUCCC was founded by 51 member companies based in China in 2000. It is recognised by the European Commission and the Chinese authorities as the official voice of European business in China.
