Chinese Academy of Sciences Ranked among Reuter's Top 25 Global Government Innovators
On 8 March 2016, Reuters released the Top 25 Global Innovators–Government, which ranked the world's most innovative government research institutions based on data related to patents and research papers between 2008 and 2013.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) of mainland China, placed 16th, was among the eight Asian candidates that made it to the list. CAS, established in 1949, is dedicated to studying the natural sciences, public welfare, and development of emerging industries. It has more than 60,000 staff members working across a hundred-plus research institutes, branch academies, and supporting organizations nationwide. In 2011, CAS' technology transfer contracts covered 1,800 technologies and generated US$270 million in revenue.
