China's National Copyright Administration Signs MOU with WIPO on Comprehensive Copyright Cooperation
The National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Further Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation between NCAC and WIPO in Shanghai on 1 December 2015.
The MOU calls for comprehensive cooperation between the two parties in the field of copyright. On top of reinforcing existing momentum of copyright-related collaborations, it aims at stepping up cooperation in the areas of copyright promotion, talent cultivation, and high-level as well as working-level exchanges. The MOU was signed by Mr. Yan Xiaohong, deputy commissioner of NCAC, and Mr. Francis Gurry, director-general of WIPO.
NCAC has developed effective ties with WIPO since China's accession to the organisation in 1980, and notable partnerships between them included the conclusion of Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances in June 2012 and the introduction of the WIPO Copyright Gold Medal Awards in 2008.
