Beijing International Book Fair 2015 Secures 4,721 Copyright Deals
The 22nd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) has just come to a close. The five-day event of 26-30 August 2015 drew about 2,300 exhibitors from 82 countries and regions including the UK, France, the US, Korea, Japan, and India. At this year's BIBF, close to 300,000 titles were exhibited and more than 1,000 cultural events conducted.
Apart from book display and launches, forums, and exchange sessions, BIBF is also an occasion for copyright trade. It is considered as one of the world's leading three copyright trading platforms along with Frankfurt Book Fair and London Book Fair. This year's BIBF saw the signing of 4,721 copyright deals, representing an increase of 8.6 percent from previous year. Of the deals, 2,887 were export and partnership contracts (up 11.3% year-on-year), and 1,834 import contracts (up 4.7% year-on-year).
The book fair also featured other copyright-related activities such as the Rights Managers' Salon, International Digital Publishing Forum, and International Copyright Trade Advanced Seminar. Among them, the seminar, in its 15th year, explored the theme of "The Extension of Copyright Industry Chain in the Omnimedia Era", during which expert discussions revolved around two topics, namely, emerging trends in copyright trade, and value chain development and management for copyright assets, from the dimensions of laws and regulations as well as industry dynamics.
