"Get up, stand up. For music" as Theme of World IP Day 2015
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has recently announced that "Get up, stand up. For music" will be the theme of this year's World Intellectual Property Day.
As stated in WIPO's dedicated web page, the music we enjoy today comes from the collaborative efforts of creative people including singers and songwriters; musicians and publishers; producers, arrangers, and engineers, with its breadth and variety a result of an unprecedented accessibility to musical genres and styles, thanks to the support of the ever-evolving technologies and business models that offer us a lot of options.
WIPO, along with various government agencies, non-government organisations, and individuals around the world, is going to explore through activities, events and campaigns on and around this year's World IP Day such questions as "What is the future of our relationship with music?", "How will it be created and disseminated?", "How will we listen to it?", and "How will we ensure that all those involved in bringing us this universal pleasure can make a living from their craft?".
World IP Day, observed each year on 26 April, is an event established by WIPO in 2000 to promote the relevance of IP to our daily life as well as to celebrate creativity and contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe.
