Seminar on IP Strategies with Global Vision Held in Beijing

An intellectual property seminar co-organised by Thomson Reuters, Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Promotion Office, and a Zhongguancun-based technology research institute was held in Beijing on 29 October 2014. It attracted about 300 participants from government departments, universities and colleges, major corporations, IP law firms, and IP asset investment companies.

The seminar was hosted by Beijing Intellectual Property Office deputy director Mr. Zhou Yan. Focused on the theme of innovation, development, and globalisation, expert speakers representing Peking University, Intellectual Venture, Huawei, Qihoo360, and Siemens presented on topics such as Chinese government's IP strategies and enterprises' IP management in an increasingly globalized environment, internet-related patent protection in international markets, and China's efforts toward an innovation nation. Also at the seminar, Thomson Reuters unveiled its latest report of "Patented in China" series entitled "Intellectual Property Strategy with Global Vision".

Concurrently held during the session was the signing ceremony for the declaration of collaboration in forming the Zhongguancun ICT & Mobile Internet IP Industry Alliance. Thirty industry leaders as initiators of the alliance, including Thomas Reuters, Baidu, Lenovo, BOE Technology, Beiqi Foton, and Founder Group, proclaimed their proposal and extended invitation to enterprises, public institutions, universities and research institutes involved in relevant sectors to join and support the alliance.
