Chinese Courts Nationwide Receives 66,000 Plus New IP Cases in First Half of 2014
According to the Supreme People's Court of China, the people's courts nationwide during the first half of 2014 received a total of 66,609 intellectual property-related cases (including first-instance, second-instance and reopened cases), representing a year-on-year growth of 13.29%.
Among the newly accepted IP cases, the numbers of criminal, civil, and administrative cases along with respective growth rates during the period were as follows:

In respect of first instances, the numbers of newly accepted criminal, civil, and administrative IP cases during the period were 5,429, 47,583, and 5,640 respectively. It is noteworthy that among the first instances, administrative IP cases saw the most significant year-on-year growth of 4.58 times, which can be attributed to the strengthened efforts in supervision and support of administrative enforcement of IP rights in China.
