QPBC Holds 2012-2013 Award Ceremony for Best Practices in IP Protection & Modal Cases Harmonizing Administrative & Judicial IP Enforcement
On 24 May 2013, Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (CAEFI) held the 2012-2013 Award Ceremony for Best Practices in IP Protection & Modal Cases Harmonizing Administrative & Judicial IP Enforcement.
The ceremony was attended by over 300 participants, comprising representatives from Supreme People’s Procuratorate, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Customs, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, National Copyright Administration, State Intellectual Property Office, and judicial authorities at provincial and municipal levels, as well as foreign embassies in China, trade associations, academia, media, and QBPC member companies.
Concurrently with the announcement of winning cases, there were talks delivered by officials from relevant authorities on accomplishments in IP protection in China over recent years, and the working principles to be followed and measures taken by the authorities for enhancing IP protection and intensifying crackdown on IP infringement and manufacture of counterfeiting and substandard goods in the years ahead.
The best practice award was launched by QBPC in 2002 to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of protection of IP rights on annual basis, whereas the modal case award was introduced last year to align with the Chinese government’s “Working Opinions on Effective Harmonization of Administrative and Judicial IP Enforcement”. Winning cases of the awards are generated by secret voting for QBPC members’ nominations under criminal and non-criminal categories.
