ACPAA Convenes IP Symposium 2011 in Beijing
On 16-17 November, All-China Patent Agents Association (ACPAA) convened its 2011 IP symposium in Beijing. The theme of this year’s symposium was “Theory and Practice Regarding Article 22.3 of the Chinese Patent Law on Inventive Step”.
The event gathered more than 300 participants, comprising examiners from SIPO, court judges, attorneys from major patent agencies nationwide as well as corporate representatives. Mr. He Hua, deputy commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), was present at the event and delivered the opening speech.
To provide a solid basis for the discussion of the theme, ACPAA had held a research paper contest earlier on in February to invite submission of papers on topics related to the theme. A total of 106 papers were received, of which 62 were from SIPO and 44 from patent agencies. Among all the submissions, 12 were commended by the panel of judges as outstanding pieces, the authors of which were awarded certificates of honour during the symposium. Their works together with other selected writings from the submissions were compiled into a collection and published recently.
