Intellectual Asset Management Workshop Held in Hong Kong
On 19 September 2011, an intellectual asset management workshop co-sponsored by Licensing Executives Society China Hong Kong Sub-Chapter (“LESC-HK”), Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and Transpacific IP Limited was held in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Themed on "Commercializing Technology through the Power of Licensing", the workshop was hosted by Ms. Hayley French, chair of the LESI Education committee and board member of LES Britain & Ireland, as well as Mr. John Walker, member of LES International’s Executive Board.
The workshop covered an overview of intellectual property (IP) and IP licensing based on five modules: (1) IP basics; (2) Basics of IP commercialization & licensing; (3) Determining reasonable license fees & royalty rates; (4) Managing risks; and (5) Licensing game, where practical exercises of discussion and negotiation of terms on the basis of a licensing case were conducted.
The workshop was well-attended by IP professionals and industry participants including lawyers, business executives, corporate counsels, and R&D personnel from academic institutions. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. was also a participant of the workshop, and is delighted to have met and communicated with a good blend of associates during the occasion.
