Cross-Strait Reciprocal Acceptance of Patent, Trademark and Plant Species Priority Rights Applications to Take Effect
The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office told a press conference on 10 November 2010 that relevant mainland authorities will start to accept the application for priority rights of patents, trademarks and plant species from Taiwan applicants, effective on 22 November 2010.
The Taiwan Affairs Office further revealed that Taiwan's copyright authorities will accept the application of certificate for Taiwan audio and video products targeting the mainland market after its mainland counterpart finishes the required procedures.
Meanwhile, Taiwan Intellectual Property Office announced on the same day the cross-strait reciprocal recognition of priority rights in patent, trademark and plant species applications, specifying that applications on or after 12 September 2010, i.e. the date when the Cross-Straits Agreement on Intellectual Property Rights Protection took effect, are entitled to claim the priority rights.
