CPA Deputy General Manager Invited to Speak at 3rd Belt & Road Forum for Development in Trade in Services
The Third Belt & Road Forum for Development in Trade in Services was held in Beijing on 7 September 2020. The forum was sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), undertaken by China Association of Trade in Services (CATIS), and hosted by CATIS chief expert Mr. Zhang Wei.
During the opening remarks for the forum, CCPIT vice chairman Mr. Zhang Shenfeng highlighted the importance of trade in services as the focus of China's future cooperation with its Belt & Road partners, which can be in the form of strengthening cooperation in digital economy, cultural exchanges, IP rights protection, or financial system development.
The keynote speakers of the forum included CATIS consultant Mr. Long Yongtu, director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) Mr. Jorge Chediek, and head of CATIS Mr. Zhou Chenghu. Surrounding the theme of "transformation and upgrading of international trade in services under the epidemic", the forum discussed, among other topics, the Belt & Road and digital trade, and the promotion of the overall export of "service plus" supported by digital technology and guided by high-end service. Also conducted during the forum was a dialogue session moderated by Mr. Long Yongtu, involving industry experts to gather insights and ideas on the issue of digital trade and the Belt & Road, as well as the release of the key findings of the Research Report on the Development of International Trade in Service Industry in China.
China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) deputy general manager Mr. Wang Jingchao also attended the forum and delivered a speech. Mr. Wang was one of the four experts invited to speak on the theme of the forum from the perspective of their own fields of specialty, and Mr. Wang's speech was on "patent service as a trade in service".
