CPA Deputy General Manager Invited to Inaugural International Symposium on Judicial Enforcement of IP
The Inaugural International Symposium on Judicial Enforcement of Intellectual Property – Challenges and Responses was held in Beijing on 18-19 January 2020. The symposium was jointly organised by Renmin University of China's Intellectual Property Academy, Intellectual Property Judicial Protection Theory Research Base, and International Intellectual Property Research Center. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) deputy general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe was invited to attend the event.
Close to 40 guests including judges and law school professors from China, the UK, the US, and Germany shared experience from the perspectives of their respective jurisdictions, as well as exchanged views and thinking surrounding the three main topics of the symposium, namely, anti-suit injunction and injunction in IP litigation; determination of FRAND royalties for standard-essential patent (SEP) and anti-monopoly rules against abuse of SEP rights; and noteworthy IP cases in 2019.
While delivering a keynote speech related to noteworthy IP cases, Mr. Wang Chuang, deputy judge of the Intellectual Property Tribunal under Supreme People's Court of China, mentioned several exemplary cases concluded by the court, two of which are patent administrative cases that our firm won on behalf of a Swedish client and a US client respectively.
