CPA Patent Attorneys & Engineers Receive BPAA Training on Issues Related to Inventive Step Examination
On 30 August 2018, a training session on issues relating to inventive step in patent examination was conducted at China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA)'s Beijing Office. This was a training we invited Beijing Patent Attorneys Association (BPAA) to arrange specially for our firm's patent professionals. About 200 of our patent attorneys and engineers from Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Shanghai offices attended the training personally or via audio conference.
The training session was chaired by CPA Beijing Office deputy director Mr. Yuan Shaohui, who at the beginning extended warm welcome to Judge Yuan Xiangjun, lecturer of the training from Beijing Higher People's Court. During his two-hour plus lecture, Judge Yuan made a brief review of the status of the acceptance and conclusion of patent administrative cases at the court over the past five years. He then expounded, with the support of generous cases and data, some of the challenging issues in China's patent law, among them claim construction, and determination on references, technical problem, and technical field.
Judge Yuan's talk was well-received and inspired many questions during the Q&A session from the participants, to which he all answered in meticulous detail, sparing no effort in sharing with our colleagues his expertise and experience.
