CPA Attends 7th Congress of China Intellectual Property Society
On 14 November 2017, China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) deputy general manager Ms. Tina Tai, assistant general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe, and Shenzhen Office director Mr. Yuan Shaohui attended the 7th congress of China Intellectual Property Society (CIPS) in Beijing.
Mr. Shen Changyu, commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), was present at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, in which he reiterated the importance of IP-related research and studies in aiding the building of a strong IP nation. Following that, Mr. Cui Shoudong, deputy director of the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC); Mr. Yu Cike, director general of Copyright Administration Department of National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC); and Mr. Lin Guanghai, deputy chief judge of Civil Trial No. 3 Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court of China (SPC) spoke respectively on the latest development of trademark examination, copyright protection, and IP adjudication.
During the session, the election of the 7th board of directors of CIPS was held, and Mr. Tian Lipu, the former SIPO commissioner, was elected chairman of the board. Also elected were CPA's top and senior management, including CPA general manager Mr. Zeng Xiangling as vice chairman; deputy general manager Ms. Tina Tai as executive director; and deputy general manager Mr. Luo Hong, assistant general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe, and Shenzhen Office director Mr. Yuan Shaohui as member of the board. Moreover, the resolution concerning the establishment of a Defence Intellectual Property Commission was passed at the meeting.
In 1984, CIPS was approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China to be set up as a national academic and non-profit community organisation under SIPO. Over 300 experts, academics, enterprise representatives, and officials from central government and local authorities attended this congress.
