CPA Attends World IP Day Reception Hosted by HKIPD
On 20 April 2017, Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong SAR (HKIPD) hosted a cocktail reception for stakeholders in the IP industry to celebrate the World Intellectual Property Day, a day designated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 as falling on 26 April of each year. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) was invited to the occasion, and representing our firm were our deputy general manager Mr. Luo Hong, CPA Hong Kong Office Patent Application Department manager Mr. Ma Yongli, and Trademark Department deputy manager Ms. Yin Jie.
This year's World IP Day carried a theme of "Innovation – Improving Lives", which aimed at exploring how innovation made our lives healthier, safer, and more comfortable in the process of turning problems into progress. Ms. Ada Leung Ka-lai, Director of HKIPD, addressed the reception, during which a selected invention by a local young inventor was shown to the audience and achievements reaped by Hong Kong exhibitors at the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva were reported. Finally, Mr. Gregory So Kam-leung, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, along with Ms. Ada Leung, invited the guests to join them in raising their glasses in celebration of the 17th World IP Day.
The reception drew an attendance of about 150 guests from government departments, consulates, IP community, legal sector, academic establishments, and enterprises from Hong Kong and mainland China.
