CPA Delegation Took Part in 2016 AIPPI World Congress
The 2016 World Congress of AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) was held in Milan, Italy on 16-20 September 2016. This year's congress gathered around 2,500 delegates from more than 80 countries to discuss topics related to patent, trademark, design, and copyright. Some of the topics discussed during the occasion were: standard for determining adequate support for amendments, security interests over IP, requirements for protection of designs, implications of Brexit for IP, patentable subject matter in biomedical field, and contributory patent infringement.
China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) attended the congress with a delegation comprising deputy general manager Ms. Tina Tai, Munich office director Mr. Deng Ming, Mechanics Department manager Mr. Cao Ruo, and Legal Affairs Department deputy manager Mr. Xiong Yanfeng. Mr. Xiong also spoke at the panel session on contributory patent infringement, and as a representative from China he expounded on relevant judicial practice in the country.
During the executive council meeting on 20 September, Mr. Ma Hao was elected president of AIPPI. Mr. Ma is the first Chinese top leader of AIPPI since the establishment of the association 120 years ago.
