CPA Attends CCOIC Seminar on Overseas IPR Protection & Enforcement Strategies
On 8 September 2016, China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) attended a seminar on enterprises' overseas IP rights protection and enforcement strategies hosted by China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) in Beijing. The seminar was attended by over fifty representatives from enterprises, law firms, and the media. Our firm's representatives at the seminar included assistant general manager Mr. Kong Zhiqiang, CPA Beijing Office deputy director Mr. Wu Yuhe, Trademark Department manager Mr. Li Jiang and deputy manager Mr. Yin Longzhi, and Legal Affairs Department deputy manager Mr. Liu Peng.
The opening remarks were delivered by International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) China IP Committee chairman and CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office (CCPIT) president Mr. Ma Hao, who briefed on the efforts of CCOIC in assisting Chinese enterprises with overseas IP strategies. During the keynote speech sessions, Luye Pharma Group related operations of its own IP department as an example of implementation of IPR protection and enforcement within an enterprise, whereas Mr. Lu Chuanliang, director of CCPIT's patent litigation and consulting division, put forward strategies to actively deal with disputes over IPR enforcement abroad.
The concluding remarks were made by our assistant general manager Mr. Kong, also vice chairman of IP Committee of ICC China. Mr. Kong accounted for the fundamental causes of the problems encountered by Chinese enterprises in overseas IPR enforcement and suggested ways for enterprises to better protect their IP rights abroad, with a particular focus on the roles of trade associations in this aspect.
