Patent Examination Cooperation Guangdong Center Visits CPA Shenzhen Office
On 3 July 2014, Patent Examination Cooperation Center of the Patent Office, SIPO, Guangdong (PECC Guangdong) visited the Shenzhen office of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) with a view to understand patent applicants' points of concern about applications for patent inventions related to biological sequence, to enhance the quality of patent examiners' output, and to promote exchanges with local enterprises and patent agencies.
The PECC Guangdong delegation comprised six members, including Mr. Luo Deming, office director of PECC Guangdong, and Mr. Guo Xiaoyong, director of its Pharmaceutical and Biological Invention Examination Department. The delegates were received by our firm's thirteen representatives consisting of assistant general manager Mr. Wang Jingchao, Shenzhen office deputy director Mr. Ke Guanghua, and chemistry department managers and attorneys from Shenzhen and Hong Kong offices.
During the visit, the PECC Guangdong delegates and CPA representatives met to study issues covering patent prosecution for biological sequence related applications, examination standards regarding unity of inventions, and matters concerning biological invention patent applications. The visit has helped achieved the intended purpose of strengthening communication between PECC Guangdong examiners and patent attorneys.
