CPA Attends 3rd LES China-Japan Meeting

On 22-23 September 2014, a seven-member delegation of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) led by general manager Mr. Zeng Xiangling attended the 3rd LES China-Japan Meeting in Beijing. The opening speeches of the meeting were delivered by CPA senior counsel Mr. Li Yong, also vice chairman of the Chinese Group of Licensing Executives Society (LES), and Mr. Ichiro Nakatomi, president of LES Japan.

The meeting attracted about a hundred participants representing enterprises and IP firms from China and Japan. With a theme on "open innovation", guest speakers from Chinese and Japanese corporate sectors presented on their experience regarding the practice of technology innovation, licensing, and transfer, as well as IP assets management and protection, and patent risk prevention in manufacturing or commercial operations.

On the second day of the session, exchange activities were arranged for the participants, including visits to the Office of Scientific R&D of Tsinghua University and the IP department of Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. For the former, the issue of university and corporation collaboration was explored, whereas for the latter, such topics as protection of IP rights and non-infringement of third-party IP rights were discussed.
