CPA Attends China Intellectual Property Symposium (Shanghai) 2011
The China Intellectual Property Symposium (Shanghai) 2011, co-organized by All-China Patent Agents Association (ACPAA) and China Section of Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI China), was held on 24-25 June. This year's symposium drew an attendance of more than 370 from 29 countries and regions, including attorneys, examiners, judges, representatives from the industry and international organizations, as well as officials from the patent offices of the US, Europe, Japan, Korea and Australia.
Topics regarding the latest development of IP systems and the requirement of amending patent applications in various jurisdictions were explored by speakers from China, the US, Europe, Japan, Korea and Australia. With the aid of case studies, speakers delved into the issues of how amendment is handled in their respective jurisdictions in adherence to the provision of "amendments not going beyond the scope of the initial description and claims" and how the extent of protection of the claims is supported by the description.
Ms. Jenny Wang, Vice President of FICPI China and Senior Counsel of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), attended the symposium with CPA management including Mr. Wang Jingchao, Deputy Director of CPA Beijing office, Mr. Wen Dapeng, Deputy Director of CPA Shenzhen office, and Mr. Liu Dong, Director of Shanghai office in their capacity as members of ACPAA. They made extensive exchanges and communication with participants from global IP community during the occasion.
