CPA Actively Participates in AIPLA 2024 Annual Meeting

On 24-26 October 2024, the AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association) 2024 Annual Meeting was held in Washington DC, the US. Mr. Xiong Yanfeng, deputy general manager of our firm China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), along with CPA Beijing Office Chemistry Department deputy manager Mr. Wayne Ma and Physics Department deputy manager Ms. Cao Fang, attended the event.

At the opening ceremony, the Honorable Kathi Vidal, director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), delivered a keynote speech, kicking off the three-day intensive programmes, which covered topics such as US patent prosecution and judicial practice, latest developments of the Unified Patent Court, trademark and copyright protection mechanisms, design regulations updates, the challenge of applying artificial intelligence to intellectual property (IP) management, implications of recent decisions of Supreme Court of the United States, and new EU data protection regulations.

CPA delegation members actively took part in the lectures and discussion sessions of the meeting, grasping the recent trends of the IP law field and taking home valuable insights, while at the same time making use of the free time during the meeting to conduct in-depth exchanges with experts and practitioners from different parts of the world, introducing to them China's latest developments in IP, with a special mention of the upcoming 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo.

The AIPLA Annual Meeting is a prestigious event in the industry, which has become an important platform for IP practitioners to develop their skills and knowledge and to network. This year's meeting brought together 1,000-plus participants, including USPTO senior officials as well as IP lawyers and academics from the US and across the globe.
