Global Business and Law Conference 2024 Held in Beijing

On 27 September 2024, Global Business and Law Conference 2024 was held in Beijing, China. The opening ceremony of the conference was addressed by guests from home and overseas including: Mr. Marcelo Vázquez-Bermúdez, chairman of International Law Commission of the United Nations; Ms. Maria Chia Malaguti, president of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law; Mr. Shoichi Okuyama, president of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI); Ms. Heather Steinmeier, chief policy officer of the International Trademark Association; Mr. James Allsop, former chief justice of Federal Court of Australia; Mr. Liu Guixiang, permanent member of the Judicial Committee of Supreme People's Court of China; Mr. Zhao Changhua, vice minister of justice of China; and Mr. Wang Haihuai, general manager of China Communications Construction Group Company Limited.

Mr. Ren Hongbin, chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) presided over the opening ceremony, and issued on behalf of the participating business and legal circles the Beijing Initiative of the 2024 Global Business and Law Conference, which features: improve global governance to jointly foster economic opening-up; optimise global business environment to promote co-development of the world; strengthen legal protection to stimulate industrial innovation; deepen global legal and business exchanges to expand international cooperation; gather global consensus to create a better future for the world.

The theme of this conference is "Strengthening Law-based Business Cooperation for Further Global Economic Development". In parallel with the conference, three forums were held on the respective topics of "Compliance construction and business environment optimisation", "Dispute resolution and global economic win-win", and "Intellectual property and the development of new productive forces". Nearly 1,000 representatives of relevant international organisations, government departments, embassies in China, as well as those of Chinese and foreign legal firms, business associations, trade promotion councils, and enterprises attended the conference.
